Using ADU’s to solve the affordability crisis
The West Denver Renaissance Collaborative, an awardee of the Sustainable Communities Innovation Challenge, is making great strides with their Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) program to support low-income residents in gentrifying neighborhoods.
An ADU, a detached rental unit in a home’s backyard, provides the homeowner with an additional income stream enabling them to stay in their home longer, while also increasing the supply of affordable housing options for new residents. Watch how we’re making a difference in this community.
The West Denver ADU project is part of the Sustainable Communities Innovation Challenge, a $10 million commitment by Fannie Mae to generate affordable housing solutions. Through the Challenge, we are exploring innovative solutions and partnerships to help advance sustainable communities – those that provide residents integrated opportunities for employment, health, wellness, and education.
